
About Dr O’Regan

Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist
Dr O’Regan is on the Irish Medical Council’s Specialist Register. He cares for patients with a wide range of eye problems, with particular expertise in:
Retinal disorders such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease
Glaucoma
Eye inflammatory disorders
Originally from Limerick, Dr O’Regan first completed an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree at Trinity College Dublin, before moving on to study medicine at the University of Limerick Graduate Entry Medical School in 2011.
He then worked for two years in acute hospital medicine, gaining broad clinical experience before beginning six years of specialist ophthalmology training through the Irish College of Ophthalmologists National Clinical Training Programme.

Fellowship
After completing Higher Specialist Training with the Irish College of Ophthalmologists, Dr O’Regan undertook a Fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Bristol Eye Hospital, one of the UK’s top centres.
There he gained advanced expertise in managing complex retinal and inflammatory eye diseases, intravitreal injections, and laser treatments

He has also presented his research nationally and internationally, including at the European Society of Ophthalmology Annual Conference and the European Glaucoma Society Annual Conference. In 2024, he was the recipient of the Barbara Knox Medal for Best Paper at the Irish College of Ophthalmology Annual Conference
